The 11pm floor

You have done this
before, haven't you.

The contents of a suitcase in a ring around your knees. A charger you are certain you packed. Wet swim shorts sealed in a hotel laundry bag, slowly getting on with the business of ruining a shirt. Twenty minutes gone, and the trip has not even started being the good part yet.

The problem was never the suitcase. It is that a suitcase is one enormous drawer, and nobody has ever kept one enormous drawer tidy in the history of drawers.

The fix

Turn the drawer into a chest of drawers.

  1. 1
    Sort once, at home

Shirts in the large cube, layers in the medium, small things in the flat pouch. Half-mesh faces mean you can read every cube without opening it.

  2. 2
Arrive and unload in ninety seconds

Cubes go into hotel drawers as they are. Nothing gets unpacked, nothing gets lost behind the minibar.

  3. 3
    Dirty and wet stay quarantined

A dedicated laundry sack and a coated dry bag, so day six never contaminates day seven.

Radical spec disclosure

Most travel brands won't tell you what their bags are made of.

Go and look. Open the product page of almost any well-known luggage brand and you will find a colour, a price, and the word polyester. No denier. No zipper manufacturer. Often no weight.

That is not an oversight. A vague specification is impossible to hold anyone to. So we publish ours — on every product page, above the fold, in a table you are welcome to screenshot and wave at us later.

Where we sit

Between the twenty-dollar set and the hundred-and-ten-dollar one.

The cheap set fails at the zipper. The designer set costs four times as much and tells you less about itself. We went looking for the space in between and found it was empty.

“Took these to Lisbon and back with a carry-on only. The half-mesh thing sounds like a gimmick until you are standing in a dark hotel room at 6am and can see exactly which cube the socks are in. Zippers feel like actual zippers.”
Marissa T. · Verified buyer · 7-Piece Set, Obsidian
“Really good, with one gripe: the laundry sack is smaller than I expected for a two-week trip. Everything else does what the page said it would, which honestly is more than I expected. Docking a star for the sack.”
Devon R. · Verified buyer · 4-Piece Starter
“I have a 15 inch torso and most 40L packs sit on me like a wardrobe. This one actually cinches down. Flew four segments in ten days, never got asked to check it once it was zipped shut.”
Priya S. · Verified buyer · Ranger 40, Field Olive
“A conditioner bottle opened somewhere over Nebraska. The liner held all of it. Wiped it out in the sink and that was the whole story — which is not how that story usually goes.”
Tom H. · Verified buyer · The Dopp
“Bought it as a makeup case, use it for cables now, bought a second one for makeup. It stays open on the counter instead of folding shut on itself, which no other pouch I own manages.”
Alexis W. · Verified buyer · Medium, Sea Glass
“The steel loop is the whole point and it is done right. The privacy flap is a bit stiff out of the box. Tracker sleeve fits an AirTag exactly, no rattle.”
Ben O. · Verified buyer · Set of 3

On the name

We called it Buddy because that is what good gear actually is — the thing that turns up, does its job, and never once makes the trip about itself.

Before you ask

The questions we actually get.

Answered properly, including the ones with awkward answers.

Full help centre
Is this just re-badged marketplace gear?
No — and we understand why you asked, because a great deal of "travel brands" are exactly that. Every piece here is built to our spec sheet: a stated fabric denier, YKK® zippers, bar-tacked stress points, a published weight. Those specs are on the product page precisely so you can hold us to them. If a piece arrives and does not match what we published, that is a free return and we want to hear about it.
Will the Cube System fit my suitcase?
It is dimensioned around the standard 22 × 14 × 9 inch carry-on, which is the majority of domestic and most international allowances. Smaller European budget-carrier cases want the 4-Piece Starter instead. Every product page lists exact dimensions in inches and centimetres.
Are the bags waterproof?
No, and we will not say they are. They are water-resistant: a DWR finish on the shell that shrugs off a spilled coffee and a dash through rain to the taxi. Sustained downpour will eventually get through the zippers and seams on any bag at this price. Anyone claiming otherwise at this price is guessing or lying.
What does the 5-year warranty actually cover?
Manufacturing and materials — zippers that fail, seams that let go, hardware that breaks, coatings that delaminate under normal use. It does not cover a bag the airline ran over, a slashed panel, or ordinary wear on the outer fabric. That is what the optional Gear Guard add-on is for. Full text on the warranty page.
How fast does it ship?
Orders placed before 1pm ET ship the same business day, otherwise the next one. Free over $75 in the contiguous US. International rates are calculated at checkout.
Can I return something I have already used?
Yes. That is the point of 100 days — you cannot evaluate a travel bag in a hallway. Take it on a real trip. If it lets you down, send it back and we will refund it.
